Sons ne figurant pas sur l'album: Be a nigger too - Be a nigger too remix
9ème album studio pour Nas, et album qui a beaucoup fait parler de lui, et ce bien avant sa sortie. Initialement intitulé "Nigger", Nas a finalement dû renoncer à ce titre face aux nombreuses critiques et menaces de non distribution de son album, pour cause de "politiquement non correct". Tout comme son précédent album (Hip Hop Is Dead), Nas suscite la controverse, à croire qu'il commence à en faire une marque de fabrique, même si, dès ses débuts, l'artiste new-yorkais a toujours été très engagé dans ses lyrics et dans son rap. Pourtant, Nas ne lâche rien et déclare que même si cet album est sans titre (Untitled étant un titre sans être un...), les gens sauront que cet album s'appelle en réalité "Nigger". Au programme de cet opus, de nombreux sons engagés, avec comme trame de fond que "Nigger" renvoie à une condition à part entière et pas simplement à une couleur de peau. Le premier "street single" illustrant ce thème, "Be a nigger too", ne figure pas sur la version finale de l'album, mais il vaut le détour.

9ème album studio du groupe de Memphis, Tennessee, qui n'est désormais qu'un duo après le départ de Crunchy Black. D'où le nom de cet album, Last 2 Walk. Le groupe, initialement baptisé Triple 6 Mafia, et qui comptait 6 membres à une certaine époque, est connu pour son rap particulier appelé "horrorcore" (rap d'horreur, similaire aux films d'horreur), dans lequel abondent lyrics traitant de violence et de mort. A leur début, les Triple 6 Mafia étaient crititiqués pour leurs lyrics sombres et leurs thèmes occultes faisant référence à Lucifer (le nom du groupe, Triple Six, a renforcé leur image satanique), ce qui a freiné leur explosion commerciale, les radios étant réticentes à passer leurs sons, jusqu'à leur premier récent gros succès "Stay Fly", 1er single de leur précédent album "The Most Known Unknown". Le groupe a toujours nié ces accusations démoniaques: le nom du groupe aurait été choisi uniquement pour se faire remarquer et pour dire que d'un groupe de trois, ils sont passés à un groupe de 6, et Juicy J (à droite sur la pochette), a nié toute affiliation satanique du groupe , arguant que "son père, pasteur, le tuerait si jamais si il lui venait à l'idée de louer une quelconque créature de l'ombre"...

Initialement intitulé N.3.R.D, l'album porte finalement le titre "Seeing Sounds", car les compères ont vu sur Discovery Channel un documentaire traitant de la synesthésie, documentaire qui les a grandement inspiré. La synesthésie est la condition neurologique par laquelle deux ou plusieurs sens sont associés. L'explication en VO du groupe: "It's a mixture of senses that may cause a person to experience colorful hearing, auditory smell. For example, you might see something, and it might trigger a song. You might hear something, and it might trigger a taste in your mouth. When we created this album, it was the music we envisioned while creating it. We decided it would be the appropriate title for the album."

Le premier single "That's Gangsta" est un hommage rendu à son ami de toujours Pimp C, avec lequel il formait le groupe UGK. Pimp C est mort le 4 décembre 2007 dans un hôtel en Californie à la suite des effets d'un médicament pour la toux ("promethazine/codeine syrup", sirop utilisé par beaucoup de rappers du sud comme drogue et communément appelé "purple drank" ou "sizzurp") corrélés à des troubles d'apnées du sommeil dont il souffrait depuis longtemps.
